With 20+ years in education working within K-12, I've seen a lot of things; much that's stayed the same and a lot of "new". There's a lot of new thought brewing in the edusphere among the field's thought leaders but seemingly small pockets of implementation. Public education can be a slow moving boat; we're a bit stuck in our old ways but what we've always done doesn't always continue to work. I have some old school tendencies while still looking over the horizon to see what we can do differently to create positive change. We need to develop our school staff to engage in new styles of service, support, and leadership. We have to change our own mindsets while fostering a growth mindset in our students to lead now and in the future.
